Newspaper
Fourth's bimester project is doing a newspaper situated during the Cold War (James Bond's times).
Rough drafts will be turned in before the final project so they can be peer-edited. You will be working on your project using what you learned in Spanish and Computer class. The project must be printed in TABLOID size (tabloide). The newspaper should include the following:
1. Title and of Newspaper: Think of a creative main title (titulo) and a 2nd title or subtitle for your newspaper.
For example, a newspaper about Albert Einstein could be called Einstein's Edition, a newspaper about George Washington could be called Colonial Times, or a newspaper about Queen Elizabeth could be called Royal Review.
2. Date of Publication: For the date, choose one that would be close to when the book Casino Royale takes place.
3. City of Publication: Choose the city where this newspaper is published. Keep in mind the countries and cities involved in espionage during those times.
4. Weather: Using the date (which month you chose and what season that month is in), decide what the temperature and weather will be like in this city.
5. Issue # and Price: Students choose these.
6. Comic Strip: Create a comic strip for your newspaper about an important event that happened during the Cold War. Sketch out a rough draft of your illustrations and decide what each person will be saying in each speech bubble. The comic's purpose is to make fun of the economic, political or general living situation.
7. Opinion Article: Write an opinion article about the situacion lived in those times. Criticize it and make sure you are making your point of view clear.
8. NEWS item: Write a newspaper article situated during the Cold War. The article must be about an event that is very likely to have happened during those times, considering the political situation going on. Pages 4-7 from your book Casino Royale might be helpful.
Remember to include the following information in your newspaper articles:
* Answer the 5 W´s: Who, What, Where, When, and Why
* Title of the article (titular)
* Subtitle (epigrafe)
* Introductory sentence (Bajada / Copete)
* Lead
* Body (cuerpo o desarrollo)
* Ending (cierre)
* Author's name
9. Complement: The complement to each of the articles includes a Photo and foot note (pie de foto) related to the NEWS item and opinion article.

For your 3rd bimester project you will choose a book written in English to read during your vacations.
* Remember that the same book can't be read by 2 students within the same classroom. ake sure you show your book to your teacher as soon as possible so she approves it. Without her approval, you can't start your project and you risk the possibility of not being able to present.
Things you must turn in:
1. Reading Log format (due: Monday January 6th) Print document called "Reading Log"
2. Plot diagram (due: Monday January 13th) You may use example from the Plot Diagram image below
Extra Points:
1. If you buy the book in the Book Fair you get 5 decimals in your project and a Homework Pass. In order to get these points you must tell your teacher about your purchase and show her the book.
2. Book report: 2 page summary of the book in informal format written entirely in your own words.
due: Friday January 10th 5 decimals on bimester 3 test.
(check out the document on the bottom called "How to write my book report" to get help and see the requirements)
This is what you must work on during Christmas vacations. When we come back on January we will start working on your presentation and 3 board panel that is due on January 22-24. Here you will creatively present the main events, characters, and parts of the plot diagram.
